ADDITIONAL APPLICATIONS -

2.  The Adolf Pirsch Creative Writing Class - For Junior High and High School Students:

For junior high and high school students in creative writing classes who have previously attended an Art and Music Master Class (see 1), this application is built around the art of one of Europe's greatest portrait painters for the Edwardian social elite, Adolf Pirsch.  Students in this class have the opportunity to view and study up close the grand Pirsch portrait A Walk In the Park, circa 1885, and then write a creative paper based on the portrait. This class is subject to open scheduling and is taught by the creative writing/English teacher.  I do not have to be present for this class. Other pieces of art from The Christian Thomas Lee Collection of Fine Art can be substituted for the Pirsch portrait at the instructor's request. Click here to view the collection. Please note that three weeks advanced notice is required for scheduling of this application.

3.  Debussy Master Class - For Junior High and High School Students:

For junior high and high schools students who have previously attended an Art and Music Master Class (see 1), this class of no more than 35 students builds upon the influence of Impressionism in art and introduces the influence of Impressionism into music utilizing the repertoire of the great French composer, Claude Debussy.  Specifically, students review Clyde Leon Keller's Hills of Lavender and then are introduced to Debussy by listening to three to four of Debussy's greatest compositions including: The Sunken Cathedral (considered by many musicologists to be the greatest musical composition in human history); General Levine Eccentric; The Interrupted Serenade; and Footprints In The Snow. This is a fantastic class that serves to introduce students to the vast classical repertoire using the movement of Impressionism to help students make the transition from visual art to classical music.  Each student is sent home with a companion CD recording (click here to see CD) with four of Debussy's important works along with a companion listening guide and Debussy biography.  There is a small charge for each CD of less than $18.00.  This class can be scheduled after 12 noon on any given day. Please note that three weeks advanced notice is required for scheduling of this application.

4.  The Artist's Neighborhood - A Private Concert and Showing of Art Hosted By Junior High and High School Students - Also for Homeschoolers:

Suggested by high school students several years ago, this is a private by invitation only evening concert hosted by junior high and high school students for their parents at the school or ideally, in a private home in the evening.  Generally, this application comes at the end of a week long visit with a school and the concert includes selections from The Christian Thomas Lee Collection of Fine Art and select works of art created by students.  These concerts have been fabulously successful and inspiring evenings for students and their parents.  There is a small charge for the cost of invitations.  This application is subject only to an evening time frame scheduling.  Click here for a sample invitation. Please note that three weeks advanced notice is required for scheduling of this application. Please note that this application is also designed for homeschoolers in fifth through twelfth grades.

5.  The Power of One - For Faculty, Staff, Board Members and Spouses:

A lecture for teachers, faculty, board members and spouses, this class is an inspiring 45 minute to one hour presentation utilizing music and art.  It is based on The Power of One - stories from the lives of the great artists and composers and how a single individual and teacher inspired the young artist to a place a great creativity.  This lecture has also been given on the university level at various schools including George Mason University, Marymount University and Houston Baptist University.  This application can be scheduled on any given day after 10:30AM and ideally, in an evening time frame in a private home. This application works on a printed invitation format and there is a small charge for the cost of invitations. Please note that three weeks advanced notice is required for scheduling of this application. Click here to see a sample invitation.

6. The Power of Hope - Junior High and High School Assembly:

For junior high and high school students, this is a school assembly with music selections of Bach, Sor and Carulli and character profiles of Bach, Beethoven, Mozart, Listz and other great artists and composers. This is a compelling character based assembly that teaches students the power of hope by showing the philanthropic side of the great artists in human history. This assembly reminds the students that we all have a creative side and creative talents and giftings and shows them, through the lives of the great artists, that it is better to give than it is to receive. This assembly is subject to open scheduling after 10:30AM and ideally should be the last application with students scheduled in my visit. No advanced notice is required for scheduling of this application.

7.  Celebrate The Arts Week - The Comprehensive Application:

Celebrate The Arts Week is the application used by schools during a week long visit and includes all of the applications listed above.  During this week long visit, not only are the above applications being implemented, teachers are also borrowing select pieces from The Christian Thomas Lee Collection of Fine Art to use in their classrooms.  As an example, the English teacher might borrow the Death Mask of Sir Walter Scott; the history teacher might borrow some of the historic documents including The Watergate Collection and The Titanic Collection.  Celebrate The Arts Week is an intense and comprehensive approach to art and history in which the entire student body and teachers are involved in a hands-on effort.  This week generally ends with The Artist's Neighborhood (see 4) and the week also includes up to three of the private concerts to help generate funding to pay for the costs associated with the week  (click here to learn more about the private concert as a fund generating tool).  Celebrate The Arts Week is subject to specific scheduling restrictions.  Please call me for details and assistance in the scheduling of this week. Please note that two months advanced notice is required for scheduling of this application.
